  • 15% of people in Canada who menstruate say lack of period products has stopped them from work, school, sports, or daily activities. Access to period products is a matter of dignity, health, and equity.

Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House is happy to announce our collaboration with Shoppers Drug Mart #2294 (Hastings-Slocan) for the Pad It Forward campaign this year — helping increase access to menstrual products for people in our community. @shoppers_hastings_slocan

You can support by donating:

✔ Tampons
✔ Menstrual cups
(new and unused only)

From May 23rd to June 6th, drop off donations at the Pad It Forward bin in-store (Shoppers Drug Mart #2294 Hastings-Slocan).

  • From Spare Change to Big Change: Children Leading Community Care from Kids World Program

Some of the children in the Kids World School Age program have recently taken up interest in fundraising. What started as a casual jar to collect money for a local food bank turned into a collaborative event! The group started by advertising within their own program by emailing the families, gathering the other 70+ children and informing them of the cause, finding ways to draw them in and use their likes and skills to add to this fundraising event. On the provincial wide pro-d day, the children booked the parking lot at Frog Hollow, broke out the popcorn machine and got to work.
‍
The original group set out tables and chairs and offered popcorn and lemonade by donation. They invited other offsite programs, such as Village and Nootka school age to attend.
‍
Many of the other children in the program found ways to get involved, some crocheted small creations, some made small books/comics, some wanted to be serving staff for the popcorn and lemonade.
They had community members stop by to support the cause, bringing so many people together on a beautiful sunny day.
‍
In the end, they raised $500 for a local food bank, and are intending to continue their fundraising efforts long term, thinking of other causes that they are passionate about.

💖Across our childcare centres, children are building meaningful connections with their neighbourhoods—through walks, relationships, and shared experiences. This series highlights those small but powerful moments of belonging, care, and curiosity. We invite you to explore these stories and see how children connect deeply with the people, places, and communities around them. Thank you for reading 💖
  • On May 13th, Frog Hollow Early Years and School-Age children stepped into the community to make sure their voices were heard through #KeepThePromise. With handmade signs, big energy, and even bigger hearts, they reminded us that every child deserves care, support, belonging, and opportunities to thrive.

Watching children speak up for their communities is powerful. It reminds us that advocacy can begin at any age, and that listening to children means building a better, more compassionate future together.

Thank you to all the children, families, educators, and community members who came, honked for us💛
