Welcome to
VNHSC!
Vancouver’s neighbourhood houses have always been the heart of local communities, offering a welcoming space for connection, support, and growth. For decades, Vancouver’s neighbourhood houses have played a key role in helping newcomers settle and integrate into their new community. The Vancouver Neighbourhood House Settlement Consortium (VNHSC) was formed through a unique collaboration between Vancouver Neighbourhood Houses belonging to the Association of Neighbourhood Houses of British Columbia (ANHBC) and Vancouver Independent Neighbourhood Houses. This partnership laid the foundation for what we see today: a thriving community network of settlement services designed to support newcomers throughout the city.
Learn more about the services our Neighbourhood Houses provide!
Unlike traditional settlement organizations, neighbourhood houses in Vancouver offer a community-based approach that emphasizes relationship-building. Neighbourhood houses don’t just provide specialized services; We foster a sense of belonging and community, allowing people to learn from one another, share resources, and collectively create the vibrant communities they wish to live in. The VNHSC embraces this community-focused, systems-thinking approach, bringing together eight neighbourhood houses to serve all 22 Vancouver neighbourhoods. By working together, we amplify our efforts, align resources, and enhance settlement outcomes for newcomers.
